With a repertoire essencially made by classics and pearls of portuguese music lost along time ago, the RCL is a group that (re)covers, with a modern perspective, the spirit and repertoire of orchestras and dance groups from the 50's and 60's.
Music from Brazil, Angola, Cuba, Mexico, Italy, La Chanson Francaise, Twist, Ye-Ye, Jazz, Rock'n'Roll and Fado are the main influences of this band who blend all this styles into a very own touch and feel which the listener will for sure recognize as unique.
This band reveals a delicate way to make you dance or (if you are the shy type) swing your feet to shuffled rhythms impecably performed and arranged. Melodically I felt embraced by a warm yet bright sound on the glides of the guitars, the joyfull keys and the harmony of the voices.
The lyrics are all in Portuguese, extremelly well written and even for the non-portuguese speakers it will sound fitting.
Although hard to pick any track out of the album, if you would make me do it then "Pepe Fado" and "O fado é bom para xuxu" would be the ones standing out.
And you know what? You can have their debut CD for FREE! That's absolutelly right.
